Breakfast was tasty each morning, with lots of choice, and everything ran smoothly. We had a great time: our room was spotless and roomy, with a lovely view, and the staff were great. Denise in particular went out of her way to help us, and nothing seemed too much trouble. It’s a lovely place for families. The bathroom felt a bit small, though with three children all using it at once, I think any bathroom would have felt that way! I highly recommend it, and we’ll be back.

The host was so friendly and helpful, and breakfast was tasty. The location was ideal too, with free street parking right outside. Our double room was spacious and beautifully designed, and the bathroom was enormous, with both a bath and a shower. The whole place was gorgeous and felt like a little bit of luxury. I’d happily recommend it to my friends and family!

Ashlea house is so close to the centre, which is really handy. The rooms have everything you need and breakfast is amazing. They even give the dog her own sausages at breakfast! Geraldine and the staff are lovely, and nothing is too much trouble. I’d suggest booking directly with Geraldine. Can’t wait to go back.

We liked the location, the room and its view, and breakfast was great. They also provide hotel-style bathroom supplies. The place can feel impersonal, though, with a reception and staff rather than owners, so it feels more like a hotel than a B&B. There’s also a soundproofing problem: you hear footsteps and conversations from other rooms, and the floorboards creak when people walk. It’s charming when you’re making the noise, less so when you’re trying to sleep. A family room near the top of the B&B can get noisy too. We were unlucky with a family whose children were difficult to manage. Breakfast was full of shouting and screaming from both parents and kids, which really put us off. We complained, but nothing was done to make breakfast somewhere everyone could enjoy. The parents were rude and seemed unable to control the children. The B&B takes family groups without the right facilities, and the complaint was handled poorly too, since nothing was done.

I booked at the last minute after calling around hotels and B&Bs trying to find somewhere for Easter weekend. Geraldine got us sorted, and I couldn’t have asked for a better place. The room was gorgeous, cosy and warm, and the food was lovely. Each morning, while we had breakfast downstairs, the bed was made with fresh sheets, and we got fresh towels and toiletries too. Thanks for having us! We’ll be back soon xx
