The food was yummy and good value, and we really enjoyed the Valentine’s steak and fries deal. The bitter was great, and I liked the house red too. It’s a lovely place, with a great atmosphere, nice staff and customers, and it’s extremely dog friendly. Well worth visiting.

The roast beef was a highlight, and my dining companions enjoyed their dessert. Food is good and reasonably priced. We found a table with a nice atmosphere after quickly moving through two possible dining rooms because their TVs were blaring. The staff were sweet, though not the most switched on. On Sundays, get there for opening at noon. It was packed by one.

The pub, food and dog-friendly side of the hotel were all excellent, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The exterior looks very grand, though the rooms behind it are less impressive and smaller than the photos suggest. There was also some mould on the walls, which didn’t look good. My recent stay was otherwise as expected.

I went to a birthday function at the Woodthorpe and had a positive experience. The staff were efficient, the food was very nice, and the location is great. There’s also a large beer garden and a car park.

No frills, but very welcoming, with friendly staff and management. I had a very comfortable stay while visiting family nearby. Excellent value, and excellent beer.
