Premier Inn Ramsgate - Manston Airport

The room was too hot at night, and the heating control wouldn't go below 19 degrees. I like to sleep with a window open all year, but these windows don't open at all. There's a patronising sticker claiming the steady supply of fresh air makes that unnecessary, which just isn't true. There's no air conditioning, either. The shower was rubbish, as seems usual at Premier Inn, and the glass screen left water all over the bathroom floor. The restaurant next door had a nice feel, though lots of things were out of stock. My meal was still good. Breakfast was poor: fried egg was apparently the only choice, and it came undercooked, as did the hash brown.

The car park was nearly empty, which was handy, though it was badly lit. You register your car at the staffed reception. The room itself was basic and cold, and my mattress dug into my side. Breakfast was freezing, and dinner wasn't much better. The cleaning was disappointing. I asked reception to have the room cleaned, but the cleaner only made the beds and left fresh towels on one of them. The sofa bed wasn't made, the bins weren't emptied, and I was told to leave plastic and paper beside the bin. The locked toilet roll holder was nearly empty, so I had to refill it myself after asking for more. There was no sign to hang outside the door, and the hair dryer took ages to dry my hair. Very basic.

The TV switched itself on in the middle of the night twice, and I couldn't even turn it off at the wall. The Wi-Fi was awful too, with hardly any signal and constant dropouts. The hotel is fairly cheap and in a useful spot, but after that I'm not sure I'd stay again.

The staff were generally polite, but the hotel's condition really let it down, especially over a two-week work stay for a training course. Premier Inn Ramsgate (Manston Airport) is looking tired, and the longer I stayed, the more the problems stood out. There was a musty, mouldy smell in the hallways, and my room was dusty and needed a proper hoover. Outside the restaurant, litter and overgrown bushes made the place look neglected. The Wi-Fi was practically unusable most of the time, which was a real problem while away for work. The TV also turned itself on randomly during the night more than once, which was strange and disruptive. Not the standard I'd expect from a Premier Inn.
