The Turks Head

Our room had loads of space and we loved it, though I'm keeping which room it was to ourselves so we can book it again. The pub was very dog friendly, and we hope you'll have us back with Rosie, apologies again for her. We booked directly with the Turks Head and would recommend others do the same. The room and pub were exceptionally clean and comfortable, the breakfast and other menu food were really good, and the staff and locals were all friendly and helpful. We visited at a festive time of year, and could easily have stayed another week to see more. Wish I could have stayed longer. The beer was great too, especially the Mistletoe.

We stopped by hoping to find lunch and were absolutely delighted by the wonderful staff and the amazing range of roasts and vegetarian options.

The beef dumpling with lean beef, mashed potatoes and veg was absolutely delicious, every bite a delight. My wife ordered just a starter and couldn't finish it, so the portions are generous. We chose the Turks Head for lunch after finding Cragside full and taking a wander around Rothbury instead. The town seems to be dying, with lots of shops closed, so it was especially nice to find such a good choice of food here. It took us a while to choose from the menu. Proper food, served well. I'd highly recommend it, and I imagine the other three tables who'd also been unable to get into Cragside would agree.

We had the three-meat Sunday lunch, and it was delicious. So nice to eat Sunday dinner out and not be disappointed. The staff were polite and very good, a credit to the Turks Head. I wish we lived nearby, but we'll certainly call again when we're in the area. Thanks!
