Pete is the 🐐. As the owner, he's kind and caring, and the person to ask if you need anything. He's the glue holding this place together. The bar had immaculate vibes. A live band was on the Friday night I stayed, and karaoke runs on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. I was sorry to miss it. If you drink, hostel members get 10% off alcohol. For the price, I felt the hostel was well worth it and offered plenty of services. Laundry was available, though it seemed backed up while I was there because the dryer had broken, so I wouldn't count on it. Still, it's a nice option when it works. I stayed one night, and I usually don't write reviews, but this seemed like a good place to start.

The owner really made the stay for me. He's thoughtful, puts guests' needs first, and does his best to make the experience good even though I got the sense his business has taken a hit in recent months. I respect the effort, especially when things are tough. The free breakfast was a surprise at this price. I hadn't expected much, but it was a buffet with a good variety, and the owner helped me choose what I might like. I'd love to see him get more bookings and support. I was travelling solo for two days in Manchester and booked a hostel bed. It wasn't anything special, but for what I paid it was more than I could ask for. The bed was comfortable, the internet was fast, and the washrooms were clean. Nearby there are convenience shops, Tesco, and places to eat, about a 5-10 minute walk away. This was the least expensive stay I found, not only nearby but across Manchester. The distance from the airport gave me pause, but I'm glad I booked. Getting into the centre by bus or train was pretty convenient. I'd definitely book this accommodation again if I travel to Manchester. Thanks for reading.

Pete has a great personality and really knows hospitality. He goes out of his way to make people feel welcome and comfortable. The hostel also feels very safe, with codes for both the main entrance and the hostel door. I'll definitely return for weekends when Manchester utd or City is playing, and enjoy a relaxing stay with beer and that breakfast. The breakfast deserves the five stars. There were cereals, oat bars, flavoured milks, crumpets, hot cross buns, chocolate filled pancakes, brown and white bread, bacon, sausages and/or chicken pieces, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, yogurts, butter, cheeses, and cream cheeses. Coffee, tea, sugar, and even wet wipes were provided. You can cook the food yourself in pans on the glass topped two plate stove. Unbelievable. I stayed from 9th of January 2026 until 21st January 2026. This is the best hostel pub I've stayed in, and I've travelled extensively. I started in a dorm room with clean, nice mattresses, then upgraded to a double room with a TV, coffee station, sink, towels, a lovely bed, and heating. The bathrooms were great, and the shower water was lovely and hot. Downstairs there's a lounge that also serves as the breakfast area. Most nights the bar opens at 7pm. There's karaoke, pool, darts, quizzes, and a selection of beers on tap and in bottles, wines, ciders, and sodas. Fridays have happy hour, and I got Carsberg from the tap for under £3. The no 8 bus runs every 15 min to and from Manchester, and there's a massive ASDA 5 mins away. For the nightly price, it's value for money. I really couldn't find fault with this gem of a place. Trust me, you won't go wrong booking here.

The landlord was chatty and helpful, and the breakfast selection was good. It's a proper northern pub, with a great atmosphere and friendly staff and locals. No complaints. If I'm back in Manchester, this is where I'll stay.

I had a wonderful stay there last year. My private room wasn't too bad for noise, and the staff were really welcoming and awesome, especially the owner.
