The mattress was awful, with every spring noticeable, and the pillows were paper thin with no real support. I could hardly get comfortable, let alone sleep properly. A door alarm in the room next door kept going through the night, so between that and the bed, sleep was almost impossible. The room was visibly dirty, with actual blood on the pillows and a used plaster stuck to the ceiling. The lifts smelled strongly of smoke and urine, and the whole hotel felt neglected and badly maintained. At checkout, the receptionist kept talking on an internal phone call instead of acknowledging us waiting there. No apology or basic courtesy. It felt clear that guests weren’t a priority. The location felt rough and uninviting, though that was probably the least of the problems. The hotel was incredibly cheap, and I understand that you get what you pay for to a degree, but there’s still a basic standard of cleanliness and finish that should be met. It wasn’t. Cheap shouldn’t mean unhygienic or neglected. This was genuinely one of the worst hotel stays I’ve had, and I wouldn’t stay again under any circumstances.

The rooms were a good size and comfortable, the shower had great water pressure, and the stay was pleasant for a good price. Our TV didn’t work, though, and the bathroom door handle was broken, so a few repairs are needed. There’s no disabled access. The lifts only stop at midway floors, so you have to use stairs to get up or down to your floor. The hotel is above a job centre, so don’t leave anything in your car.

The view was exceptional, and having an Aldi opposite was handy. My burger was absolutely delicious 😋, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy, with all the essentials, and the bathroom was nice too. The lift and stairs were a bit of a mad setup, lol. Great place to crash for a day or a few. No complaints from me, I'd stay again. Thanks for having me.

The receptionist was friendly and helpful, and the location made it easy to get to both Liverpool and Manchester. But the surrounding area felt neglected, with lots of closed shops, and I didn't feel comfortable during our stay. My partner and I wouldn't choose it again. The bed and bathroom were clean, though the bathroom was tiny and had hardly any room for personal items. The headboard had broken parts too. The room itself felt small and smelled unpleasant, as did the hallway, so I ended up buying air freshener. The window and curtains were stained, the window didn't open properly, and the walls needed cleaning and maintenance. Finding reception was confusing from the start. Someone at the entrance directed us to the second floor, where paper signs taped to the walls pointed the way. It didn't feel much like a proper hotel, and the makeshift signs seemed unprofessional.

Eccles looked run down, and we didn't fancy finding somewhere to eat or drink nearby. The receptionist suggested a nearby townland about a 20-minute walk away, to the first pub or restaurant, in Munton, which was quite a nice area. Getting around the hotel was awkward, especially with big bags. There's a Jobcentre on the ground floor, and reception is reached by going up to the third floor, then back down the stairs. The hotel had good reviews on Agoda, but that layout was a surprise. Staff were pleasant. Of the three rooms we booked, mine was the best. The other two had more mould on their windows, and the showers in those rooms were scalding, so we had to wash at the sink. We told reception when we left after our one-night stay, and they said they'd sort it out.
