The staff were really friendly and helpful. We didn’t stay overnight, but came in for food, which was very good as usual for this small local pub and restaurant chain. It was packed at Sunday lunchtime, so book ahead. A bit pricey, though I thought the food was worth it.

The toilets were the weak point for me. There are three urinals, two cubicles and one sink with an air blower. Later in the afternoon, there were puddles of wee on the floor and a used hand towel left in the sink. The doors and fittings also felt very dated, and the small finger pull made them awkward to open. I used to be a mystery customer for pubs and bars, so I notice that sort of thing. The Sunday lunch itself was outstanding, with very good service and a lovely atmosphere and setting. I’d highly recommend it for lunch.

I took my parents out for a birthday dinner, one turning 80 and the other 79. They even brought over a happy birthday board after asking whether we were celebrating, which was such a lovely touch. The staff were attentive and great throughout, and the food was awesome and came very quickly after we ordered. Thanks to everyone for making the meal memorable. This place is a gem, whether you’ve been before or not.

We’d never been to The Lodge and didn’t really know what to expect when we came for lunch today, 9 May 2026, using a voucher from a family member. We loved the place. The food was incredible, the location beautiful and the staff lovely. We’ll definitely be back!

I love this place. George and the team are always so attentive, and both lunch and dinner are consistently spot on. Great food and service every time.
