The breakfast was a nice start to the day, with a choice of what to have, and the WiFi worked well. It cost £3 for unlimited use during our stay. Finding the guest house took a bit of effort since it sits back from the road, and we had to get through the gate. Once there, though, it was a charming place, with chickens wandering outside. Our rooms were clean and tidy. Some had no private bathroom, just a shared one in the hallway. There was plenty of private parking.

The staff were lovely, and breakfast was adequate. The location was handy too, within walking distance of the city centre. Finding the hotel was tricky because there was no sign out front. Our room got the afternoon sun and became very hot on a warm day. There was no fan, so sleeping was uncomfortable. The bed was a bigger letdown: it was an old sprung mattress, and I could feel the springs.

I've been back since my first stay in November 2018, and have no regrets about returning. It's a peaceful, quiet place, with a short walk into the city. The rooms are cosy and comfortable, with a kettle for tea and coffee. Staff have been excellent and very flexible. There is a car park, but spaces are first come, first served.

We slept well in the end, and it's a cute enough place, but I wouldn't want to stay longer than a day or two. Our room was small and cosy, and luckily it had an ensuite. Some rooms don't, and from 8am there was constant banging as people went in and out to use the shared toilets and showers. The sink had no hot water, and the showers weren't very powerful.

The rooms were a decent size, a little dated, but everything worked. For the price, I can't complain. Alabare Guest house was clean and tidy, with really friendly staff. The girls there were nice too. Parking was shared, and the neighbours and people around the area were friendly. Good value for money, and I'd highly recommend it. Thanks, C.S
