Premier Inn Isle of Wight Sandown - Seafront

I stayed with my partner a few weeks ago, and the staff were friendly and helpful. For my birthday, I got a few little treats and a cute note, which was such a thoughtful touch. Special thanks to Aaron, Caitlin, and Claire! The room was comfortable, had air conditioning and a lovely sea view, though the bad weather meant I couldn’t fully enjoy the view. The location is excellent, with a few on-street parking spaces available.

The breakfast was the one thing that let this great Premier Inn down. During my four-night stay, it was bad twice, on the 3 and 6 of Nov. The bacon and sausages looked and tasted as if they’d been cooked the day before, and were inedible. There was no presentation to speak of. The manager seemed to be there both days and really needs to try the breakfast now and then. It didn’t make me want to eat in the restaurant. Otherwise, the location is fabulous, the check-in staff were helpful and friendly, and my room was clean and tidy with a sea view. All good, except that breakfast.

The staff were very helpful, probably the only plus. The location is okay, right in front of the beach, which makes it easy to reach food and take a daytime walk along the shore. In the evening, the local crowd seemed a bit “flying high,” lol. There’s no parking at the hotel. On-street spaces nearby are extremely limited, though we were lucky to find one on both days. We went pre-Easter, when it was still below 12° C and too chilly for many to enjoy the beach. In busy summer, booking a driveway through JustPark or another parking space sharing app might be best. I’d rate it three stars, as I’ve had better stays at other Premier Inns around the country. The mirrors were warped, and we first thought they were dirty, but it was grease behind them. One vending machine was broken throughout our three-day stay. Premier Inn doesn’t seem to fix them in a hurry. I like Premier Inn, but next time I’d personally pay more for a hotel with parking.

What brings me back is the location. Step out the front door and you’re straight onto the promenade and then the beach. The coastal views are stunning, and it’s worth walking along there at any time of year. The price is reasonable, and you get a tidy enough room with the facilities you’d normally expect, including tea and coffee. You could probably find a similar room anywhere, but this spot is what makes it stand out.
