Artist Sarah Kay keeps the chalets warm, comfortable, tidy, and reasonably well equipped. Her art is displayed throughout, and you can also visit her gallery and well-kept gardens. I was delighted to spot her work on the ferry to Orkney on our way home, too. The chalets sit high above Scalloway by East Voe, with magnificent views across the harbour and out to sea. A lovely base for exploring the Shetland archipelago.

Those sunsets were amazing! The chalets are right in the middle of Mainland, which made it possible for us to see every corner of the island in just two days. And as a bonus, the owner is one of Shetland's most important artists. 🙂🙂🙂

Good supermarkets in Scalloway and a large Tesco in Lerwick are only a short drive away. The chalets also work well for families, and you can borrow books and DVDs from the laundry room. They're a great place to stay if you're hiring a car to explore Shetland. My only reason for taking off a star is the bedrooms really need blackout blinds. In summer it was already bright at 4am.

It was a straightforward, comfortable place to call home for a short while as we visited the islands. I'd stay again if I had the chance.

A quick one-minute drive gets you to Scalloway for shops and a cafe, and Lerwick is close by too. The location makes it easy to head north or south. The place was clean and compact, with a comfy sofa and great views.
