We meant to stay just one night after dropping in on the off chance, but liked it enough to add another. The room was clean, the sea view was fabulous, and on-site parking was free. The bed was really comfortable and breakfast was great too. Lovely staff, and thanks to Gaz and your team. We’d never stayed here before, but will be back.
It’s about a five-minute walk to the north beach. The hotel also has free parking, plus special permits that let visitors park anywhere in Scarborough at no charge. Breakfast has a fantastic range of choices, and the rooms are spacious and clean, with nice sea views.
The gentleman who owns the place was lovely, but the stay was disappointing for the price. The room felt outdated and poorly equipped, with only two mugs. The travel kettle looked yellow with age, and the layout wasn’t good for us with two children. We’d expected a different view too, since ours faced the main road. We knew breakfast wasn’t included, but there was no backup option. A fridge in the room or a simple continental breakfast, even just croissants with jam or cereal, would have helped, especially with kids. The stairs up to the room were steep and narrow, which made carrying luggage awkward.
We stayed last month and came back again last weekend. The staff are polite and helpful, the family room has great views, and it’s child friendly. Breakfast was really nice and the price was good.
We’ve been coming as a family for a few years and have told friends and relatives about the Cliffside. Paul and Wendy make you feel very welcome. The rooms are neat and clean, and the service is amazing. Give the Cliffside a try if you’re staying in Scarborough, you won’t be disappointed.
