Derwent House Apartments

We’ve stayed in plenty of hotels, guesthouses, and apartments over the years because I have family in Scarborough, but none have been as spectacular as Derwent House Apartments. We had the Ganton Suite for Christmas, a spacious two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment over two floors, with a fully equipped kitchen that had everything we needed. The lounge was stunning too, with a beautifully decorated Christmas tree and a cosy living flame fire. Every detail made the place feel warm, welcoming, and indulgent. We felt very lucky to spend Christmas in such a beautiful space, and the experience exceeded our expectations. It really felt like a bit of luxury. Claire the owner made us feel like cherished guests from the moment we arrived. The mix of elegance, comfort, and heartfelt hospitality, along with the well appointed rooms and attention to detail, makes this place stand out. We’ll absolutely be back. That bespoke guidebook had some genuinely useful ideas for Scarborough and nearby, and the apartment made a brilliant base for our birthday group. We rented several of them and every detail felt considered. The place is stunning, finished to a really high standard and well located. After staying in quite a few places around Yorkshire, I’d put this among the best for quality. We’re already talking about booking another week and pretending to work from home there.

Ben was such a charming host and did everything he could for us, whatever the hour. The apartment was so stylish we hardly wanted to head out, though the beach was only a short walk when my husband finally persuaded me. We loved the thoughtful design and personal touches, and playing the supplied board games together was great. I was also very happy to have the nespresso machine in the mornings. We went just before Christmas, and Ben was great to arrange everything with, especially since it was our first time in Scarborough. The apartment looked stunning and had all we needed for a long weekend. We’re already hoping to return in summer with a big group of friends.
