The room was clean and fresh, the bed really comfortable, and the refreshment tray well stocked. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful. Staff were excellent and helpful too, and arranged an early check-in, which we appreciated. We bought a parking permit that saved us money and let us park right outside. The B&B is tastefully decorated. In the evening, we could use the lounge bar to eat a takeaway or watch TV. The location was good, though the view is of the surrounding properties. There are quite a few steps and stairs, and breakfast is served in the front basement room, which has a window. We had a very positive stay and would definitely return.

The breakfast was great, all locally sourced, and the homemade bread was so tasty I had extra. The fruit bowl was freshly prepared with strawberries, kiwi fruit and the usual fruit, really refreshing. The owners were friendly and the bed quite comfortable. The room had everything you’d need, though the kettles were a little dated. The carpet was slightly lifted between the room and the en-suite, but it was hardly a big issue as the rest of the stay was fine. It’s about a ten-minute walk to town over the spa bridge, which was convenient.

The breakfast was a real highlight, one of the best cooked ones we’ve had at a hotel or B&B, with really good produce. Our room was spotless, with modern, tasteful decor, toiletries and plenty of tea and coffee. Glenn welcomed us warmly and let us check in early, which was a lovely bonus. We stayed for two nights at Esplanade Gardens, run by Glenn & Caroline, and had a fantastic time. There was free parking, and they’d clearly worked hard to follow the COVID policies during a difficult period. We’d happily recommend Esplanade Gardens b&b to anyone staying in Scarborough. Thanks for the brilliant hospitality, Glenn & Caroline. Kat & Andy

The Cliff lift to the Spa complex is at the end of the road, so staying further along on the South side isn’t a problem. Parking comes with a free permit. Breakfast was the best I’ve had at a B&B, cooked to order with tasty local produce, and they were unbelievably helpful with my dietary requirements. The place was clean and comfortable, the biscuits were good quality, and there was plenty of tea and coffee. Everyone was welcoming and very helpful. Superb value.

The food is what really stands out for me: there’s plenty of choice, the standard stays high, and the homemade bread and full English breakfast are fantastic. I’ve stayed at Esplanade Gardens B&B two years in a row, and both visits were really good. Glenn and Caroline are down to earth, approachable and accommodating, which gives the place a lovely home-from-home feel. The South Bay location makes it easy to get around Scarborough, parking is free, and the prices are very reasonable. Everything is clean and tidy. I’ve been to plenty of B&Bs over the years, and this one is easily my favourite. Thanks again, Glenn & Caroline x
