Travelodge Sheffield Meadowhall

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and changing the temperature was easy. The location was handy, and we’d use the place again, but I’m a light sleeper and would bring earplugs next time. The windows let in a lot of sound from the nearby traffic and trains. We bought a meal deal for £14.50, but were confused to learn that items with a half moon logo are excluded and have a £1.50 surcharge.

I’d planned the trip around the tram, so being moved to a different Travelodge off the route I needed was a real problem. After 10pm, they called to say they’d deliberately overbooked and were full. They offered to cover taxis only if I took the receipts back to the hotel reception, so I ended up having to charge and use my car instead. This wasn’t the local staff’s fault, but the head office team responsible for the booking system. Deliberate overbooking should be illegal. You can’t sell something you don’t have. I’ll stay elsewhere in future so I know I’ll have somewhere to sleep.

I’m a regular Travel-lodger, and this is the best one I’ve stayed at in the UK. Vicky and company were so welcoming. The place is lovely and new. The lift could use a holiday, but you can’t have everything. The service and facilities alone get five stars from me.

The reception staff were really helpful, and breakfast was smashing. We got the room we needed without paying the extra charge, and the beds were very comfortable, with thick curtains that blocked out the light. There’s a huge car park, and they let us leave the car there while we shopped after checking out. I was really impressed.
