Homeleigh Hotel

Kevin found me a room at Homeleigh Hotel at very short notice, and I’m so grateful. The hotel I’d booked elsewhere cancelled my room when I arrived, leaving me in a panic after travelling from Scotland for a two-day course and needing somewhere nearby. My room was clean and welcoming, with an ensuite and fresh towels. There was a kettle and supplies for tea and coffee, along with a hairdryer, TV and WiFi that worked perfectly. Off-road parking was especially helpful with my mobility issues and all my luggage. I’d happily stay again and recommend Homeleigh Hotel to friends, family or anyone after good accommodation at a decent price.

We got a great night’s sleep in a lovely, clean room. The owner greeted us with a friendly smile, handed us the key straight away even though we’d arrived early, and let us park. I’d happily recommend it and stay again. Thanks for a great stay.

I haven’t stayed here, so I can’t say what the place itself is like. But after speaking to the man on the phone, I don’t feel like staying. He made everything sound like too much trouble and acted as though letting me book was a favour. If he’s the owner, he should consider work without customer contact. Saying he’s managed to run the place for years doesn’t mean much when the reviews are crappy. There’s a serious attitude problem.

The smell hit me as I came through the front door, and the ironing board I was reluctantly shown in the damp, messy cellar was tatty and dirty. The owner was rude and unhelpful from the start. He told me there was no breakfast or bar, and there was no iron and board in the room. When I asked to use one, he took offence and only grudgingly let me use the one downstairs. He wouldn’t help carry my bags from my first-floor room to the car park, either. The next morning, I was a few minutes late checking out because I’d had to find a cafe for breakfast, and he verbally abused me.
