Premier Inn London Gatwick Airport East

We ended up here after our flight was cancelled, and the staff were kind and helpful. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well maintained. There wasn’t a fridge, but the staff found a way to store our things for us. Highly recommended!

The receptionist was courteous and helpful, despite having limited resources, but I’d only recommend this place if everything else is booked. We arrived just before midnight after being diverted because of a Manchester flight cancellation. There’s no kitchen, so no snacks, bar, room service or breakfast. Not even a couple of biscuits on the pillow. Calling it a Basic Hostel would fit better than Premier Inn. The pub next door had shut at 11pm and wouldn’t open until noon the next day, so we arrived hungry and left even hungrier. The beds were comfortable enough, though there were greasy marks on the headboard. The bathroom looked superficially clean, but black bits came from the bath tap before the water ran clear, and the shower nozzle had black bits on it too. There was no extraction, so it stayed steamy and smelled musty until we left. I really wouldn’t stay here unless desperate, especially with young children, who have less resilience.

Alla at reception sorted out my complicated booking in no time when my work was extended and I needed two separate bookings joined together. She was friendly and welcoming, just what I needed after a long, stressful journey. This is a brilliant, convenient hotel for my work location, and I’d definitely recommend it for people travelling from Gatwick. There’s also a superb restaurant next door with an amazing menu. I’ll use this Premier Inn again. Thanks, Alla.

The biggest letdown was the lack of nearby food. There’s no kitchen at the hotel, and the only place close by was the pub next door. It was shut when we arrived at 11pm and still closed when we checked out at noon, so breakfast wasn’t an option. That was disappointing after our flight had already been cancelled earlier that day. I wouldn’t personally recommend staying here. The room itself was as expected, clean and spacious, with an ensuite and a sofa-like seat beside the bed. There was only one set of towels, though, and the snack tray was sparse, just tea and coffee, no biscuits.
