The beach is surprisingly close to the Marsden Inn, and we enjoyed a good walk along it. We were there for a Friday night so we could get to the Stadium of Light for the Lionesses v Scotland match. Our double room had a very comfortable bed, and the towels and bedding were really clean. The staff were lovely, and we had a drink in the lounge when we got back. Breakfast the next morning was a delicious cooked one, just right before the drive home. We’d happily stay again.

The room was clean and the bed was nice, and there were plenty of towels, but the shower only trickled out warm water. The only toiletries were a tiny bottle of shampoo with just a little left and a few millilitres of soap. Noise was a problem too: the pub music below was very loud, and we could hear people talking in the next room as if they were in ours. We left something behind and haven’t been able to get anyone to answer the phone. Please provide an email address for contacting you.

The bed was clean and okay, but the shower was just a dribble of lukewarm water and there was no soap. Sound carries straight through the paper-thin walls, so you hear everything from neighbouring rooms. The bar’s live music went on past midnight, and I found it really awful, like a cat being tortured. Bring decent earplugs if you stay here.

The restaurant ended up being empty and so quiet that there was no atmosphere, while the lounge was packed and noisy because of a party. We first waited ages in the restaurant to be served, then a family told us drinks had to be ordered in the lounge, where only one person was working the bar. The Coors was awful and the cider flat and watery. We won’t be back.

It’s well placed for visiting the coast on foot, and there are plenty of buses for getting around the local area. The rooms were excellent and the bed lovely to sleep in. Staff were helpful and friendly, including the bar staff, and the locals were friendly too. It’s dog friendly as well.
