Breakfast was the standout for me. Debbie an Helen were running the kitchen, and there was so much on offer to suit every taste. The eggs were the best part, cooked to perfection. Well done, girls! We also had a wonderful night: the rooms were very clean and well stocked with everything you’d need, the beds were comfy, and there was no outside noise.

The staff are the main reason I wouldn’t hesitate to return. We got a warm North East welcome at reception, and the woman who checked us in was attentive and spoke to us like people she knew. Breakfast was one of my best experiences: the room was bright, colourful and modern, and the staff were friendly, attentive and offered to make anything fresh. The food was fresh too, and when a guest mentioned a food allergy, they provided clean cutlery and a plate along with fresh food. The young woman looking after the room was lovely when we left as well. My relative was in hospital, and £83 for two people with breakfast in a Premium Plus room was incredible value. The room had a modern feel, a coffee machine, bottled water, small premium chocolate bars and a fridge. The bathroom was spacious and modern, though the shower wall panels only looked like tiles and the toilet roll holder was already loose in what seemed like a newly renovated room. I’d have expected better quality fittings for something called premium. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and we slept well despite a little traffic noise. There was a sign saying part of the car park was closed, and the derelict former restaurant and bar next to the hotel meant we had to enter through a temporary door to reception. The location wasn’t great for us.

Everything felt clean, well appointed and thoughtfully arranged. We had the accessible room, where the shower seat made things much easier for me, and everything was set at two heights so it was easier to use while sitting. The room was warm and comfy, and the shower was fabulous. When we arrived in the dark, wind and chill, the receptionist was cheerful, kind and considerate. Asher was in the breakfast room, singing constantly. You could tell she enjoyed her work, and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you.

Staff gave us a warm, friendly welcome and were happy to help with anything. The room was spacious and very clean, with towels and plenty of soap and shampoo. It also had a hairdryer, a tea and coffee tray, a full en-suite, lots of USB sockets and a large TV directly opposite the bed. The bed was comfy, with extra pillows above the hangers. I liked the modern feel, the purple bathroom lights and the walk-in shower instead of one over the bath. The room was quiet and had a fan, which was a nice touch even though I didn’t use it. This is one of the better Premier Inns I’ve stayed in, perhaps because it’s a newer one.

I stay here often for work, and the staff are always so welcoming, friendly and obliging. The recently renovated rooms are comfortable and consistently clean. Breakfast is delicious and the service is top notch, a great start to the day. There isn’t much within walking distance, but South Shields is a short drive away and has plenty of good dinner options.
