I only stopped briefly for a pint, and the Hooky was a good one. This seems like a great place to pop into if you’re passing, and the food I saw looked really nice. I haven’t eaten here in years, so can’t say how it tastes now. Glad the place has survived, and I’ll be back soon.

We had a lovely weekend away from busy London in the Cotswold countryside. The Red Lion Inn was great for our 3-year-old and 8-month-old, and we really enjoyed the nature and excellent breakfast. Our room was roomy, clean, and comfortable, just what we needed after a day out. Thanks to Lisa and the team for a wonderful time. We’ll be back!

We’ve eaten here many times, but this was our first overnight stay. The beds were comfy and the pillows amazing. Staff were fab and made sure we had what we needed. Special mention to Carl / Betty and looking after flowers. Highly recommend.

We’ve been coming to The Red Lion for meals for years whenever we’re in the area. The food is genuinely the best we’ve had in the Cotswolds, and it’s worth the long drive to eat here. It’s a cosy, welcoming pub in a handy spot, with plenty of parking and a dog-friendly policy, often a good sign. The team are friendly and attentive too. I can’t recommend it enough.

The service was lovely, with friendly, welcoming staff who looked after us well. I really enjoyed the homemade nut roast, and the Yorkshire and steamed vegetables were spot on. The roast potatoes weren’t very crisp, though, and there was only a small piece of butternut squash and one nicely presented parsnip. I missed the mashed swede, stuffing, and braised cabbage. The gravy was sparing too, and a proper gravy boat would have suited what’s meant to be a real English feast. My friends had the beef roast and said their slices were very thin and quite fatty. We were told they were the last two portions, so perhaps the price should have reflected that if they weren’t standard portions. We’ve been working hard on a local orchard and hoped for a bit more for the prices, £19 for the veggie meal and £24 for meat. The desserts were delicious and beautifully presented, though. Thank you, and I hope you’ll take some of this feedback on board. Best wishes.
