Hempstead House Hotel

I organised a hen do for ten, and Jo made sure everything went smoothly. The package was very reasonably priced, and the Oakly Room gave us private space to decorate as we liked. We ordered the food ahead of time, and all our treatments were booked back to back with the Aquamanda Spa, which worked brilliantly. Everyone was talking about how smoothly the day went and how much they enjoyed the treatments, facilities, rooms, and spa. Dinner was a lovely three courses, and our waitress was so attentive that nothing felt like too much trouble. We’d happily recommend it and come back. Thanks again!

The hotel itself is lovely, with clean, comfortable rooms and really nice, helpful staff at reception and in the breakfast restaurant. We’d stayed here and used the spa three years ago, so decided to return. This time, though, the spa let the experience down, which is a shame because the hotel staff were lovely. At check-in we got towels and directions to the indoor and outdoor pools, but no one mentioned the phone for ordering drinks or the upstairs relaxation area. I found those out for myself. I also wasn’t reminded about my treatment or told where to go. My husband said it was booked for 5:30, so I went to the spa about two minutes before that, only to learn it had been scheduled for 5:15. The therapist had called reception trying to find me. No one had told me the time, explained where treatments were, asked if I had questions, or given me a form to fill in. It wasn’t like the spas I’m used to. The outdoor pool was lukewarm, while the indoor one was so warm I couldn’t stay in long. I’m disappointed with this visit and don’t think we’ll return. Honestly, £55 for a 20-minute back massage leaves me feeling a bit peeved.

The spa was calm, well kept, and a great place to unwind, and the food was delicious and nicely presented. Staff across the hotel were friendly, professional, and caring throughout. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and very comfortable, with thoughtful details, and the elegant hotel sits in beautiful, peaceful grounds. A memorable, luxurious stay from start to finish. We can’t wait to come back and would highly recommend it.

We booked at the last minute, and Joe made the day for us. He welcomed us warmly, got us checked in, and settled so we could enjoy our time there. He’s a real credit to the team, and everyone else was lovely too. Breakfast was delicious, the rooms were very clean, and the beds comfortable. With the great weather, relaxing in the outdoor pool and sunshine was just perfect.
