Palace Farm Hostel & Campsite

Liz welcomed us, showed us around, and then left us to enjoy the place. We were in a Granary double room for a one-night stop during a hike, and the lounge chairs were big and wonderfully squashy. The cooking setup was well equipped, with even the basics for a continental breakfast, and the shower was warm and spacious, much better than I’d expected in a hostel. The double beds are on the small side, though, so next time I might choose a twin room to have our own space. Apart from that, we had a fantastic stay, and I’m looking forward to trying the camping facilities in warmer weather.

We had a clean family room with everything we needed, and breakfast was included. The owner was friendly too. It was just right for an overnight stop before carrying on with our journey.

The owners were friendly, and the campsite was lovely. The toilets and other facilities were kept clean and maintained, so we’ll come back. The entrance lane could do with a smoother surface, especially for my low car, and the bushes along its sides were a little overgrown.

It was a quiet, spacious site with good sized pitches. The office lady was very helpful, and you can hire a firepit and buy wood, which is a nice option. There’s a functional toilet block, a washing-up area and a shower that looked perfectly fine. We’ll definitely be back and I’d recommend it.
