The Links Hotel

There were four adults and our dog, and we sat in the bar area. The atmosphere was lovely, and every staff member was incredibly friendly and helpful, often anticipating what we needed. We tried steak, fish, balti and a halloumi burger, and all of it was delicious. The servings were generous and good value, though we were all too full for pudding. Other diners looked happy with their meals too. The car park is sizeable, but there's quite a pothole problem at the entrance.

We visited on a cold February day and left full and happy. The service was excellent, friendly and attentive, and we got a warm welcome as soon as we came in with our dog. The comfortable, open bar area was a good spot, and they served us at the table. I asked for the evening-menu pie at lunchtime and was able to get the turkey, Stilton and leek one. My wife had the Classic burger. Both dishes were tasty, well presented and generously sized. The place was easy to find and had loads of parking.

The portions were large, the food was really tasty, and the service was excellent. I'll be back.

We'd booked a table for 13 to celebrate a 90th birthday. We arrived on time but still waited 20 minutes because the previous diners hadn't left. The servers were very good and polite, and the bar staff were good too. But the meal was spoiled when a bar waitress told us to move because others were waiting for our table, even though we hadn't quite finished our desserts and drinks. We'd only been seated for an hour and left the desserts and drinks because we felt uncomfortable. I believe the table time is 1.5 hours, and we hadn't been there that long. This ruined the celebration and overshadowed the good parts of the place. I won't return because of the waitress's attitude. If there are time limits on tables, they should be kept.
