The room’s layout felt homely because it wasn’t open plan. Lunch was spot on, soup followed by fish and chips, and the service was prompt, friendly and relaxed. Thanks for a lovely meal. I’d recommend it.

The Cambrian has a relaxed, comfortable feel and great food in beautiful Solva. It doesn’t have the same views as the pub on the harbour, but the food is much better quality, locally sourced, prepared and cooked in house. No chain food. The staff were attentive and the atmosphere was buzzing. I’d have drinks at the harbour before dinner, then eat at The Cambrian.

The menu may look pricey, but we felt the food quality made it worth it as a little holiday treat. My Sunday Roast had two generous thick slices of lamb and a great balance of veg: well-done roast parsnips and carrots with crunchy sugar snap peas and cabbage. My friend enjoyed the cow burger, especially the fun twist of Welsh rarebit on top, and said the coffee was particularly nice. I had a small, smooth and inexpensive Pinot Grigio. It was a busy Sunday lunch, with dogs at most tables, so keep that in mind if you’re not keen, especially on wet days. Parking is limited, but there’s plenty of space in the public car park opposite the lime kilns, a minute down the road. The airy pub serves imaginative meals, and I’ll recommend it to friends as part of a day trip from Swansea.

After a walk on the beach or woodland path, with its beautiful views, this cosy pub in coastal Solva is a lovely place to stop for a drink or a meal. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and the food is excellent. There’s a great menu and wine selection, including wine produced in Wales and locally sourced seafood. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

We paid £22 each for a roast and were disappointed that it wasn’t anything special. The service was mixed. A man stayed attentive to everyone and was busy during the hour or hour and a half we were there, while three women on staff stood chatting at the bar and seemed to do little the whole time. When I paid, one of them offered me the option to add a service charge. I declined, though the man deserved a tip. I didn’t feel the others had served me or anyone else, yet the £22 from each of us and the other customers still paid for their hour.
