2 Huxtables

We missed out on seeing the starry sky because of the weather, and there wasn’t a telescope in our room as we’d hoped. Even so, the rooms were lovely, the food was excellent, and the service was too. No complaints.

The sausage baps were the highlight of our first breakfast visit, with tasty sausages and a decent bun. The staff were friendly and attentive, so I’d probably return for lunch. The snag was that at 11am, although breakfast was advertised, we couldn’t sit in the restaurant because they were preparing for Sunday lunch. We had to use the snug, which was dark and felt like a corridor. Why advertise breakfast if you can’t accommodate people?

The views are amazing, and the food has been hearty and good every time I’ve visited. I’ve been to this lovely little local pub a few times over the last two years, including for Sunday roast. I haven’t stayed in the rooms, so can’t comment on those.

We came back for breakfast because dinner had been so delicious, and that was just as good and very reasonably priced. The lamb shank was a particular highlight, though everything we ate was incredible. My family and I came across this dog friendly pub while staying nearby, and the staff were so welcoming and helpful, making sure we were enjoying our meal. If we’re ever back in the area, we’ll definitely visit again.
