Jack was very attentive and friendly. He said he’d had the place for about a year and a half, serves an English breakfast, and even made me a delicious beef curry. The B&B is affordable and conveniently located, not far from the city centre, with amenities just a brisk walk or short drive away. The mattress and pillows are old and a little uncomfortable if you want a good night’s sleep.

We could get around Southampton easily, with bus stops just a few minutes away, and the location worked well for our several days of appointments. The cooked breakfast was hearty and included, enough to keep us going through the day. The room was comfortable enough. After a while, noise from other guests became irritating, even though the surroundings were quiet. The motion activated lights got annoying too, especially when the bathroom light went off during my shower. The house was dusty, though not dirty in the important areas, which was a bit off putting. Thanks to the hostess for holding our luggage for a few hours after we checked out. I’d recommend the accommodation.

The water quality here was unlike anything I’ve experienced elsewhere in the UK. The hotel has a full water softener system, plus extra softening on the shower head, and the drinking water tasted great while the shower felt so comfortable. The rooms were clean and spacious, and breakfast was delicious. It’s also in a great spot, three minutes’ walk from Southampton central station, 15 minutes to Southampton city center, and five minutes to the seaside. I loved staying here and will definitely come back.

We found this place online at the last minute and called to check the booking website’s deal and ask how late we could return after a show. The hostess said we could have a key to let ourselves back in, then offered an even better price over the phone than the booking agent. When we arrived at the lodge, she greeted us warmly, went out of her way to help, and told us about local events that evening. The room was lovely and breakfast was amazing. I’d highly recommend it and will definitely stay here on future trips to Southampton!

Breakfast was decent, but that was the one bright spot. We had only a small bedroom, with no lounge or outdoor space, and the shower and toilet were shared, which felt unacceptable for the price. Getting our big bags up the steep stairs was hard, and it would have been a real struggle without a man there to help. The hosts offered no help, and the welcome wasn't very friendly. Walking from the station takes about 15 minutes and means crossing a footbridge, so it isn't practical with luggage. I wouldn't stay there again.
