I booked through the website because it was listed as a three star B&B. Looking back, I should've checked the online reviews first. The first room was small and filthy, with marks on the walls and dirty cups and kettle. The iron only had one setting and leaked every time I refilled it. It was advertised as ensuite with a colour TV, but neither was in the room. The so-called balcony looked onto an overgrown garden and the neighbouring backyards. I complained to the manager and was moved to a larger room with better facilities. Still, the sofa looked like it hadn't been cleaned in ages, and the shared bathroom was appalling, with mould caked in the shower vestibule. It was a miserable stay, and I've never been so keen to leave a place I'd booked. For £20 more I could've had a good, clean hotel room. The owners and management need to revamp the place and describe it honestly on their website. The details there are extremely misleading and misrepresent what guests get. It seems they aren't willing to spend enough to make the place hospitable. They should close it down. I wouldn't give it any stars, and even that is generous.

Tea, coffee, milk, a kettle and biscuits were waiting in the room, and they even left a Twix, a nice surprise. The little place was cute and the staff were lovely. I slept really well in a comfy bed with good pillows. My ensuite was clean, no dust or water marks, and the shower had plenty of power. I'd definitely come back.

The rooms were clean and tastefully furnished, and the host was welcoming. It could use a sign to help you find the place in the dark. The towels were tiny, though I didn't ask whether they had larger ones. My only real negative was that there was no TV for entertainment. I'd be happy to stay again when I'm in the area.

Yasmin kept the place in good order and had the keys ready as soon as I arrived. She was there whenever I needed help, answered all my questions, and was very supportive. The room was clean and the atmosphere warm and friendly, so I felt at home. The staff were lovely and helpful. I enjoyed my stay at Lotus Lodge very much, and can't thank you enough. I highly recommend it to travellers.

I was impressed by Lotus Lodge and would recommend it to anyone. I enquired and booked very late, but Yasmin the housekeeper was warm and helpful, and a great host. The room was ideal, with a cosy bed, blinds that made it dark, and enough amenities for a stay. Special thanks to Yasmin.
