The Metro

We held a family celebration in the function room and found it amazing value. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the bar was well stocked with reasonable prices. They supplied a buffet table, disco lights, and a sound system, and let us bring our own decorations. 10/10.

The Metro is very close to Southport, and the area is flat. We had a great time there. Our room was standard but clean, and the place was very clean generally. In the afternoon we enjoyed the bar, where you can pick music on the jukebox and play pool. There are some stairs to the rooms, though not too many. The rear night entrance is a bit harder to manage. They’re investing in a lift and a coffee machine. It worked well for us, a couple in our 50s with my 86-year-old mother-in-law. We’d visit again. Thank you.

The bar area was lovely, clean and welcoming, and the staff were lovely too. It’s a gorgeous little spot in the sun, with a great beer garden, and I hope things improve. Unfortunately, our room hadn’t been cleaned when we checked in. There was pee in the toilet and loo roll, long hairs in both the sink and shower, and stained taps. The carpet was filthy, and the stairs and halls looked like they hadn’t been vacuumed in a long time. We stayed here a few months ago, so this was really disappointing.

We liked staying there because it was quite central to town, and we’ve found another hotel now. There were eight couples in our group this year, and we spent two months trying to book again for next year by email and phone. Eventually we spoke to someone who said they’d get back to us, but no one did, so we gave up. It seemed they didn’t want our business. At least they could have replied instead of wasting our time, and theirs.
