Waverley Park Lodge

The breakfast was fabulous 👌. Our room was clean and comfortable, though a couple of things could have been better: there was nowhere to put towels in the bathroom, and a couple of chairs would have been useful.

The room was in poor shape when I arrived. There were yellow stains, which I imagine were urine, on top of and underneath the toilet seat, so I bought disinfectant wipes and scrubbed it myself. It was cleaner when I left. The room wasn't cleaned during my stay, and I wasn't given fresh towels. At least the bed was made. The sheets looked clean when I arrived, and the bed was comfortable, but the towels were clean and not very good quality. Breakfast wasn't bad, but the hours were very tight, 8:00 to 8:45. Everyone ended up gathered in the small area to serve themselves cereal, tea and coffee, while cooked breakfast and toast came to the table. They made it clear we had to leave at 8:45 sharp, which made me feel rushed and harassed. I was very disappointed with the quality and cleanliness here. I won't stay here again when I next visit Southsea.

Breakfast was really good, with a full English, toast, cereal, fresh coffee and juice. There were also alternatives to milk and cereal for allergies. The manager was friendly and helpful, and we felt very welcome. The room was spacious and very clean, with a TV and an en suite shower, toilet and sink. The bed was fresh and warm, though not the most comfortable. It worked well for a couple of nights away. The walls were the downside: they were thin enough that we could hear everything, and I mean everything.

As a young woman, I wouldn't recommend staying here if you want to feel safe. I came for a week in March. During the night, the owner opened my room door. The next morning he asked me to pay extra because a female friend had stayed with me. He said he'd seen it on the cameras, but denied watching us during the night. Je ne recommande pas du tout du tout si vous voulez vous sentir en sécurité! Passez votre chemin!
