The Arches B&B

Merlin, the resident Alsatian assistance dog, is the star here, and it's a dog-friendly place. Nikki is a lovely host, and the beds are comfy. This is a nice, basic, old fashioned B&B, with clean rooms decorated to the host's taste. Breakfast is lovely and the location is great for getting about. Parking is handy, though precarious. If you want a spa boutique hotel, go elsewhere.

Nikki was helpful with recommendations and always a pleasure to talk to. Merlin the shepherd was a bonus too, making sure we remembered where the biscuit tin was! We stayed three nights and had a lovely time. The location worked well for everything we wanted to do, and the B&B has parking set back from the road, a big plus. The parking is tight, so it's not for nervous drivers. We'd definitely return and highly recommend it.

A friendly, welcoming B&B, exactly as described, and we'd stay again. Breakfast was lovely, with sausages and bacon cooked just how I like them. Merlin the house dog was always ready to greet us after a day hiking. I didn't need the WiFi myself, but I believe it's available if you ask. The little cooler-style fridge in our room was perfect for keeping the shop-bought sandwiches fresh overnight for our next day's walk.

Nikki was very welcoming, and Merlin the German Shepard was incredibly quiet and well behaved. Our room at Arches was huge, with a beautiful, very comfortable four-poster bed. The location suited us well, just a short ten-minute walk into town. It was great to have on-site parking, though it is tight, so take care. We'd stay again if we're ever back in St Austell.
