The room was spacious, but the water temperature kept swinging between too hot and too cold. Breakfast was the best part, with a great menu and the best poached eggs we’ve ever had. It’s a beautiful location beside the beach, though the railway is right next door.

We’d loved staying at Primerose a few years earlier, so came back last year with our daughter and her husband. The balcony room had lovely views, but its doors wouldn’t open onto the balcony, and that should have been checked before we arrived. My husband and I slept terribly for both nights because the bed felt like a railway line. We also had to go into the hall whenever we needed milk or more tea and coffee. Breakfast had been great on our previous visit, but this time they didn’t offer the porridge I wanted. It’s a shame, but we won’t return.

The people working here were friendly and made me feel at home straight away. Breakfast was delicious and cooked to order, and the cream tea recommendation was spot on. The place was clean, and when I came back for check-in my bags had already been taken to my room. I arrived early and one of the owners let me leave my luggage while I explored, and after checkout I could leave it there again before my train to London. The location is perfect, about a five-minute walk from the station, but follow the directions in the website FAQ because Google sends you the wrong way. I highly recommend staying here.

Breakfast was excellent, and the location is just steps from both the beach and the train station. We stayed in the pod, which could be tricky for anyone with mobility problems: the bunk bed is up a steep set of stairs. For parking, the main railway car park is probably the better choice. The access road is narrow, steep, and has no passing spots, though luckily we met no traffic going in or out.

The staff were so thoughtful and helpful, and the place is right on the coast. I loved every moment of my stay. An amazing spot to rest your head, and I’d definitely come back and recommend it.
