La Barbarie Hotel by Eight Continents

The food was excellent and beautifully presented, and the rooms were comfortable and spotlessly clean. Staff were welcoming, friendly, efficient and helpful. It’s a little tricky to find down the narrow Guernsey lanes, but that adds character, and that’s what Google Maps is for.

The food was delicious, though on the pricey side, and our room was always very clean. We spent a week at La Barbarie at the beginning of August. It’s in a lovely, peaceful rural spot, with a beautiful bay within walking distance. We had a 'deluxe' room, but found it dated, and the balcony wasn’t pleasant to sit on because it had cobwebs and rusty lights. Not all the staff were friendly, especially management. I’d suggest some customer service training, as they didn’t interact with us, possibly because we weren’t regular hotel guests. The bill was confusing and felt misleading. Each morning the steps and outdoor surfaces were hosed down, leaving them dangerously slippery.

A very nice stay, with great food and lovely staff. Well done, Ravis, the Chef and the team.

We didn’t stay here, but it was close enough to reach for dinner by bus or on foot. We ate here twice and enjoyed the food both times. The April menu had a good range of choices and offered good value. Service was friendly too, and we’d certainly return.
