Hilton's breakfast was excellent value, with fresh fruit, plenty of breakfast basics, and dishes he cooked to order himself. He was thoughtful about our needs throughout the stay, and personally welcomed us when we arrived and saw us off when we left. My husband and I spent a long weekend at Hilton's guest house on One Park Road while visiting the Lake District. The house felt spacious and comfortable, with a bright breakfast room and a lovely living room. Our bedroom was roomy, very clean and comfortable too. It all felt much more personal and homey than a hotel. After long days hiking, it was a restful place to come back to, and Hilton's hospitality made the weekend special. I'd highly recommend it.

After a day out exploring, the large room and comfortable bed made for a great night's sleep. The B&B is lovely, with a knowledgeable host and a perfect breakfast. It's very close to Windermere high road and a great base for the Lake District. Hope I can return one day.

Each evening after our days out, we sat on the front door porch to wind down. Hilton would bring us a little ice cream each time, such a sweet touch. He runs the place like a perfect gentleman. We stayed three nights and had a lovely time. The hotel sits on a quiet corner, close to the town centre, and our room was beautiful and very clean. Breakfast was perfect every day.

From the railway station, it's easy to reach 1 Park Road: turn left as you leave, head into town, then follow the fairly straight route. Hilton was a wonderful host and gave us clear directions, ideas for things to do, routes and help with the room amenities. He seems to manage everything himself, and does it so well. Our room was beautiful, with premium amenities. Breakfast was cooked to order, with a huge range of choices, and was delicious. Try Hilton's homemade jams, granola bars and yogurts.

Hilton's tips helped us make the most of our short visit. We managed nearly everything he suggested, from the best gingerbread bakery and a walk through the lush landscape to memorable places for drinks and dinner. He's also a fantastic cook, and breakfast at the Guesthouse was a lovely way to start each day. My husband and I spent two nights in August at 1 Park Road Guesthouse, which came highly recommended by one of our favourite guidebooks, Fodor's. It exceeded our expectations. Windermere made a quiet, charming home base for our first trip to the Lake District, a nice refuge from some of the busier nearby spots. Hilton was courteous and knowledgeable throughout. The Guesthouse itself is beautiful and clearly cared for with love. The room was spotless, with large windows and a comfortable bed. I can't think of anything that could have gone better. We're grateful for our stay and hope to return.
