Woodside Spa & Glamping

It was a great little break with the kids. There were only a handful of other tents, so it was really quiet. The only small drawback was the freezer space, especially with other people’s ice cream and freezer packs taking up room. We loved it otherwise and will probably come back.

For £640 this weekend, I expected more. The photos and description on the glamping site were completely different from what we found onsite. There wasn’t enough carpark space for our group, and the facilities needed updating. The toilets were small and the showers didn’t work properly. The lights outside our yurt were out at night, so we walked to the house to call for help. They only brought candles. When we told the owner, he said, “Oh yeah, they went last weekend.” The evenings were a nightmare, with cars going past all night, and the ear plugs provided didn’t block the noise. I’m glad we went offsite during the day to see the surrounding areas.

The hosts did everything they could to make our weekend at Woodside comfortable and fun. We opted for afternoon tea on the first day, then pizza and cocktails the following evening. There’s traffic noise because it’s right on a busy main road. If you’re staying in a yurt that sleeps 10, light the woodburner to air it out. Gathering kindling in the woods is fun for all ages, ready for the fire pit at night, and logs are supplied.

We had a surprise 30th birthday party here with friends and it was perfect. The glamp site is amazing. I’d recommend the hot-tub and steam room on your first night, or cocktail making, or a hike in the woods to try and spot the elusive wild deer wandering around. The staff were amazing. Jade made the most beautiful birthday cake, and Amanda was super accommodating. We’ll be back every year 😇
