Premier Inn Stirling City Centre

The staff were brilliant, friendly and helpful, and the restaurant was good too, with great service there as well. Everything you need is close by. The rooms were clean and tidy, though they’re starting to look a little tired. A full makeover is due soon, so that wasn’t a deal breaker.

The view of the hills from my room was great, and the location was good, even if it feels a bit like the hotel’s in the middle of nowhere. The staff were pleasant enough, not amazing, and let me leave my bags after checkout. The room itself was disappointing. It looked very dated, with chips in the wall. There was a strange smell in the bathroom, and I saw black mould flecks on the curtain and walls. Still better than most Travelodges I’ve stayed in, but definitely not the best Premier Inn.

The room was comfortable, the bed was good, and the shower was excellent. Toiletries were provided too. We were a group of cyclists using the hotel as our base for two days, though breakfast was poor the first morning and only a bit better the next. It’s meant to be all you can eat, but empty fruit baskets stayed empty and other items were in short supply. Watch out for parking registration: parking is free, but you have to register at the machine in reception. Nobody told us. There were very few staff, and the ones around looked like they didn’t want to be there. It could be a lot better for a Premier Inn.

The staff were very helpful, and the location is handy for the train station. But the place badly needs a serious refurb to make it habitable. The stairwell and corridor smelled musty and odd. Our room was very tired and had a funky smell, with big holes in the carpet. In the bathroom there was a lot of black mould across the ceiling and upper walls. I wouldn’t be surprised if we all came down with aspergillosis after staying here. It’s the worst Premier Inn we’ve stayed at. Avoid.
