The Vineyard

We spent both Saturday and Sunday morning at the spa. It was great and not too crowded, though guests are meant to book two-hour slots in advance. We stayed past our booking, and since occupancy was low, the staff didn’t seem to mind. The restaurant was excellent too. We tried the tasting menu one evening, and every course was very good. It clearly seems to be aiming for a Michelin star, and I think it deserves one. The team was friendly, although their service didn’t quite match what we’ve experienced at other fine restaurants. Some of the hotel staff also seemed young and inexperienced, even though they were pleasant. The hotel itself mixes traditional and modern styles nicely. It doesn’t have that faded look you sometimes find in English country hotels.

We had such a lovely weekend away from London. The bedrooms were spotless and comfortable, and the thoughtful little details helped make the trip feel special. The staff were so warm and attentive. Dinner in the Tasting room was incredible. Thomas the sommelier was passionate about wine and really knew his stuff. Chef Tom prepared each course beautifully, and the dishes were divided and sourced locally. Thanks for the wonderful hospitality. We’ll recommend the hotel and hope to come back.

John the concierge welcomed us at the front door with a glass of wine and the friendliest greeting, and Amanda gave me a beautiful facial. Those were two lovely moments in a spa break with three friends at the Vineyard Hotel. Everyone was kind and happy to help, and we were upgraded to a better room. Supper in the restaurant was delicious. Breakfast looked like a huge spread, but we were still full and could only squeeze in a little more. I’ve just returned and would thoroughly recommend the hotel. I’m definitely heading back to Newbury.

The hotel room was lovely, and the beds were luxurious and comfortable. We were friends celebrating a birthday, and the thoughtful notes and gifts meant a lot. The food was delicious, and the team took my friend’s many allergies seriously, which we really appreciated. My spa treatment with Bliss was the best I’ve ever had. She was brilliant at her job and made me feel at ease. The pool area was a disappointment compared with the hotel. It was overheated and stuffy, with dead plants. The changing rooms had lovely touches but felt small and claustrophobic. We’d come back for the hotel and spa treatments, though not to use the pool again. That’s a shame, because the lunch menu looked incredible. It was still a luxurious, wonderful stay 🌟
