Leonards Cove

We ate in most evenings, and self catering was easy thanks to the well equipped kitchen and good fridge freezer. The park staff we met were helpful, and the place felt quiet and peaceful, just bliss. We asked to have the single bedroom made up as a double so we could each have a comfortable room. The beds were comfy and the linen immaculate. We stayed in an ocean 21 caravan, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The view was spectacular, the best we’ve seen after staying in many places in the UK and abroad. Blackpool Sands was lovely and the takeaway cafe was great. The Otter & Butterfly sanctuary was a delight, a drive away, and there were lovely walks too. We took the bus into Dartmouth and avoided parking worries. Lunch at the Singing Kettle was really enjoyable, with beautifully presented cake and cream tea. I’d say Leonards Cove suits adults more, given its location. We loved it and would definitely recommend it.

We had a great stay at Pound Loft Spa. The only small downside was that the lounge sofa wasn’t very comfortable. Otherwise, it was perfect: clean and spacious, with lovely showers in both bathrooms, a great hot tub on the patio, and a sea view from the lounge balcony. Check in was simple and staff were friendly. There’s a great pub a few minutes’ walk away, and it’s an easy walk to Blackpool beach, around 20 minutes, or into Dartmouth, about an hour.

The onsite pizzeria was excellent. We had a lovely chalet looking out to sea, and the sunrises were spectacular. The weather was great, so we explored lots of nice beaches down the coast and also went to Dartmoor. Savannah gave us lots of useful information.

It’s a peaceful, lovely park, and the Bay View Bungalow at Leonard Cove Holiday Park was comfortable. The scenery is amazing, with views that are hard to fault, and the site is well kept. It wasn’t quite right for us, though. It’s a bit far from other places, and the roads getting there are very narrow and steep. I had to close my eyes a few times during the drive! If you like secluded places with stunning views and don’t mind an adventurous journey in, it could be ideal.
