Bamflatt Farm B&B

The family room was enormous and very quiet, and we all slept comfortably. There were views from every window, plus tea, coffee, tasty biscuits, shampoo and body wash with a lovely smell. Breakfast was beautiful, and the hosts were wonderful. We only stopped for one night on the way home after climbing ben nevis, but there’s lots of space for kids to play and outdoor seating if you stay longer. Parking is free and plentiful. We arrived after the 2-8pm check-in window, but the owners kindly explained how to get the keys after 8, which we really appreciated. I’d absolutely recommend staying here.

Rooms, breakfast and location were good, but the service put me off returning. My wife, young daughter and I stayed two nights in March 2023 while looking at properties as we were moving back to Scotland after time overseas. When we arrived in the evening, the parking area was poorly lit and signposted, and the owner’s welcome felt cold and sterile. At breakfast the next morning, the waitress told us off for moving a bed so our two-year-old wouldn’t fall out. We would have put it back. When the owner learned we were considering a move to the area, she suggested living elsewhere. She seems unhappy that Stathaven has become a popular place to live. I wouldn’t stay again because of the unfriendly, cold service, which didn’t match the warm welcome I know from most B&Bs and hotels in Scotland.

The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the breakfast had everything we needed, with a decent choice of yoghurt, cereal and hot food. We also loved the gorgeous, peaceful setting, surrounded by sheep and cows and away from city noise. The rooms were clean and had all the necessary amenities. This bed and breakfast exceeded our expectations, and I’d highly recommend a stay.

We were lucky enough to see the sunrise from our room. The views and location are unbeatable, and breakfast was hearty and made to order. A great bed and breakfast.
