Janina was lovely at breakfast, and the food was excellent. The location is beautiful too. But the rooms feel old fashioned, with creaky wooden floors, and my balcony faced a yard full of builders’ rubble and equipment. There was no sink stopper, and the bath had no handrail. With the sloped ceiling, getting out meant stooping, which felt dangerous. Owners’ and staff cars take up more than half the parking spaces. It’s overpriced for what you get. Without Janina, I’d have rated it one star.

Richard, the owner, was sweet and helpful, and we loved the fantastic view. We had a great time together at Tibbiwell lodge. Thanks for such an amazing stay.

Our time here was the one bad experience of our Cotswolds trip. The owner was friendly until we saw the twin room and asked to switch, then he turned hostile right away and the rest of the stay felt uncomfortable. The room was dark and bare, smelled musty and old, and didn’t have the promised ensuite. The Romanian housekeeper did try her best to make things pleasant, and she made a nice breakfast.

The room was quiet and comfortable, though the shower was small but usable. Janina made us feel very looked after, and she was accommodating and helpful. We had delicious made-to-order breakfasts, with plenty to eat. We stayed two nights at Tibbiwell Lodge in Painswick during our Cotswold Way hike and would happily recommend it.

I came to the area for work in November and stayed at Tibbiwell Lodge twice with my dog. Richard and Janina, who mostly runs the B&B, were friendlier and more helpful than I expected. The terrace room was spacious, quiet and comfortable, with a good-sized bathroom, bath and shower, plus peaceful views. There are several places to eat an easy walk away, and I chose The Falcon Inn. I’d go back if I get the chance.
