Mill House Bed & Breakfast

We slept well in the very comfortable standard double bed, with outstanding views over the river and fields where we walked our dogs. We brought our two springadores for the long drive from Dorset, and the team couldn’t have been more welcoming or helpful. Mark had already helped us with directions over the phone, then gave us a warm welcome when we arrived. Breakfast was filling and had everything we needed, served by candlelight at a table overlooking the river and fields, with a silver candelabra. What a treat. We’ll be back! Thank you, Maria.

The rooms were quiet and really comfortable, and I could walk everywhere I needed to from this spot in the heart of Sudbury. Breakfast came with attentive service from what felt like my own chef and butler, and it was quite a meal. The view across the commons, river and fields was spectacular, with swans, geese and cows. When I left to fly home to Canada, the host even packed me a lunch.

From the balcony, we had lovely views over the River Stour and spotted plenty of local wildlife over morning coffee. I came here with old friends, and this welcoming B&B is just outside the town centre. I tend to go for a full English, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much variety the continental breakfast offered. Be aware that the stairs up to the rooms are steep, so the place may not suit guests with additional mobility needs.

We were very comfortable for our two nights and felt welcome throughout. The balcony looks out over a stunning stretch of river and water meadows. Although breakfast was described as continental, we had cooked food on both mornings. There’s convenient parking across the road, and restaurants are within walking distance.
