The one thing going for this place is how close it is to Tamworth centre and the shops. A friend stayed recently and asked me to post for her because she doesn’t have computer access. Her room was filthy, with soiled sheets, broken things and a floor that hadn’t been hoovered. The food was awful too, microwaved, unappealing and badly presented, and the staff were rude and hard to approach. There’s a nightclub and karaoke bar downstairs, and the music carries right up to the bedrooms, so a quiet night’s sleep seems unlikely. The club wasn’t especially busy, and the people there seemed like they might have been turned away elsewhere. If you see positive reviews, I’d be wary of them, as I suspect they may have been written by people connected to the landlord or landlady. Avoid this “hotel.”

The staff were genuinely polite and helpful when I booked and arrived late, but the room was in awful shape. I only stayed because there was nowhere else available and my alternative was sleeping in the car. If I’d known what I was getting, I would have turned it down. I’ll be getting in touch about a refund. There was mould on the bathroom blind and around the kitchen seals, plus a rusty shower curtain rail. I couldn’t bring myself to shower there. The bed sagged on one side, the pillows were practically nonexistent, and there was a musty-smelling bed tucked behind a cupboard. Blinds kept falling down, the fridge didn’t work, and there were cobwebs and a spider everywhere. I found toenails beside the bed, stains all over, filthy floors and skirting boards, and dust across every counter and cupboard top. This place needs serious work and money just to reach a basic standard.

Life’s tough at the moment, and the really welcoming, friendly staff did more than enough for us. Great room too.

We left without staying because the place didn’t feel safe. It’s basically rooms above a pub, with a dirty carpet, sour milk and drunk people hanging around the entrance and rooms. We contacted the owner or manager, who said she’d refund half the payment. We accepted because we just wanted to get out, but the money still hasn’t come through and the manager has stopped replying to my texts. Steer clear.

Music from the nightclub downstairs was really loud, and there wasn’t even a toilet seat. The TV and Wi-Fi didn’t work either. The place was gloomy and dirty, with peeling paint, stained carpets and a rusty shower. Dreadful accommodation, definitely wouldn’t recommend.
