Joules has restored this beautiful pub with real care, and it looks as though no expense was spared. The back room is gorgeous, with a large dining area and lots of outdoor seating. Original features give the place a grand feel. I think Joules owned it, sold it, and has now bought it back. The usual selection of the brewery's own ales is available, and they're probably the cheapest options at the bar.

The decor was beautiful, the staff were lovely, and we had a private room for an 18th birthday party with people of all ages. We hadn't realised the room was only available for a set time, which was unfortunate after we'd all travelled over 2.5 hours. They offered us space in the bar, but that wasn't suitable with three toddlers. The burgers looked amazing, and people enjoyed the steaks and fish and chips. The bar staff knew their stuff.

A real credit to the staff and to Joules, who own it. Saturday night was very busy, but the wait at the bar was short. The food was good, though the courses came a little slowly, probably because it was so busy. We've been before and will come back again. One of Wellington's few remaining jewels.

My partner and I tried eating here for the first time, and the staff were so friendly. The food was amazing, especially the lamb shank, which I'd highly recommend. The owner was really friendly too. We'll definitely be back.

The management were friendly and professional, and the service was excellent. We had a fantastic Sunday lunch, with generous portions and delicious food. Both starters, the soup and prawns, were excellent. The three roast Sunday lunch tasted wonderful, especially the generous meat portions, amazing gravy and cauliflower cheese. We shared a big sticky toffee pudding because we were so full; it was my wife's favourite. This is our new local for Sunday lunch.
