The Weigh Inn Lodges

We were made to feel very welcome travelling with our puppy. Dogs can stay for an extra cost, and I’d recommend it. They’re allowed in the bar and restaurant. The room was large, clean, and had everything we needed. I had delicious scrambled egg on toast, though the breakfast buffet also had a good range of hot and cold food. I stayed here to catch the morning Northlink ferry to Orkney, which is conveniently about a mile up the road. There’s a short walk to a scenic seafront path and the town.

A great location, with very friendly staff. The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. We stayed one night.

The cabin was fine for a one-night business stay, but could do with freshening up. Its carpets, doors, and flooring were worn and stained. On the plus side, the staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was good, the WiFi was fast, and everything was clean. The bed and linen were super comfortable.

We were left very disappointed by the unresolved refund and lack of follow-up. After chasing for over two months, we still haven’t received the refund or any correspondence. We booked at very short notice after a ferry cancellation for eight people, four adults and four young children, and had specifically asked for a cot. My wife was assured over the phone that one could be provided, but when we arrived, staff said they couldn’t supply one. Since we couldn’t stay, reception told us the booking could be cancelled and refunded. We also found broken glass outside the room, as shown in the attached photo, which concerned us given the children in our group. I would strongly advise against booking this hotel.
