Rock House

We visited on 1st March 2026 and had a wonderful meal. My Wife had dietary requirements noted in the booking, and the staff handled them very professionally. They gave us complete confidence in the kitchen and its knowledge of the ingredients. The service was quick and efficient, and the sea view was lovely. The Fish and Chips and Sunday Roast (Beef) were both very good quality and came in generous portions. Thank you.

The food at the Port William is incredible, with special choice, flavours and presentation. Every course felt prepared to a very high standard. Thanks to Chef Gwill and the team for a delicious meal. Liam was one of the superb St Austell Brewery team members who served us recently. He was incredibly attentive and engaging, went well beyond the norm, and made our family visit feel really special. They made a fuss of our dogs too, and we’ll be back. St Austell Brewery seems to be doing a great job right now, updating its premises to a high standard and clearly investing in staff with great personalities and professionalism, who are well trained and hopefully retained through good working conditions. It doesn’t feel like a chain when you visit. Really, really outstanding!

The Port William made my wife’s special birthday weekend feel even more special. We’d just got home after three nights, and everything was faultless: a spotless room, lovely meals, and the best Sunday roast. Breakfast was great too, hogs pudding included. Every member of staff was friendly and knew their stuff, even the people we only saw once or twice. Housekeeping deserves a mention as well.

Even with the place packed for the bank holiday, the team kept looking after everyone. Liam was attentive throughout, and the food Chef Ellie made lived up to the menu. They even refilled the dogs’ water bowls. I worked in hospitality for years, so I know what a tough shift that must have been for Liam and the rest of the staff. I was really impressed, and those sunset views were lovely too.
