The owners were very nice and helpful, and the front garden was lovely to sit in. It's close to the marina and shopping centre, with a bus stop at the end of the road. The place was very clean and friendly, with excellent service and breakfast. I couldn't find any faults and would definitely recommend it.

The parking situation was a joke, and the place was noisy enough that I couldn't sleep. There was an unpleasant smell of smoke too. I stayed with my parents and had the same bad experience they did. Never again. And please stop sending my Mam nasty texts. UPDATE: What are you on about, lol? You know I stayed with my family. Sorry, this isn't a fake account. Google would have removed the review if it were fake. I'm allowed to leave feedback about a room I chipped in for.

The incident during our stay is what I keep thinking about. A guest fell 20-30ft from somewhere around the second or third floor. The fall and the hysterical screaming woke nearly everyone. I was the first up and called an ambulance. It happened right outside the owners' quarters, but they didn't come out, so another guest and I handled things. I messaged Liz at 01:14 after speaking to the call handler, thinking perhaps they were away, but got no reply. I tried to keep the injured guest from moving and comforted his wife while we waited. They were taken to hospital at about 2:20am. I hardly slept, then went down around 7am to tell Liz what had happened: the railing was broken, there was a huge hole in the wall and blood on the carpet. Liz and Paul had been in their quarters and apparently heard nothing, which surprised me because they'd told my parents the impact had cracked their basement ceiling. Liz said this wasn't the first time someone had fallen. The weekend was spoiled by the lack of sleep and my worry about my family on the stairs, and we left early. I hope the guest recovers fully, and send my best wishes to his understandably distraught wife. Whether he was drunk doesn't matter. He could have had a medical episode. He was just trying to enjoy a nice time with his wife, and shouldn't be shamed. I shortened my original review on 9/4/26 in response to the owners' reply. The full review is on Trip Advisor. Seeing their responses to other negative reviews, I expected something spiteful and underhanded. Accusing me of profiteering was disgraceful, and they should check what the word means. It showed a real lack of empathy. I wouldn't put profit ahead of guests as they apparently have. It made us question other parts of how the business is run and whether it meets all legal requirements. This is about principle, not money, and we weren't looked after as guests. I want to help prevent others getting hurt. This experience will stay with me. Most of my feedback is not positive. Other guests have raised similar issues and were accused of being malicious. The main photo on Booking.com shows the harbour, not the B&B, which could mislead people into thinking it's near Torquay harbour. Why is Trelawney the only business showing that harbour picture instead of its actual building? Other places proudly show their properties and surroundings. The B&B is on Belgrave Road, a noisy crime hotspot, where the Sherwood Hotel burned down last Sunday, according to BBC Devon news. They advertise a hotel with parking, but there are only two spaces for 14 rooms. Parking could be difficult if you drive, especially with reduced mobility, and guests need to know before booking. There's a strong cigarette smell, particularly in reception, and it seems heavy smokers live at the B&B. There are no blackout curtains, despite what they say on Trip Advisor, which doesn't show much concern for sleep. Liz seemed visibly put out when I said I'd pay by card instead of cash. It makes you wonder why they want cash so much. The owners' unpleasant attitude and victim mentality came through in their contempt for guests, calling them malicious, profiteering or 'crazy'. If you have a bad experience, don't let nasty texts intimidate you. Travellers need honest reviews to make an informed choice.

I was in town for a gig at the foundary and found this lovely little place to stay. It was spotless, comfortable and so welcoming, with a personal, kind feel. Nothing was too much trouble, breakfast was lovely, access was easy and there was a parking spot. It was such good value. Thank you, Liz, for making me feel like I was staying in your home. I'll definitely be back.

We stayed in room 8 from 4th to 7th August 2025. Liz was really helpful and made everything stress free. Even though we arrived early after a five hour drive and the room wasn't ready, they gave us a key so we could head out, explore and get a well earned drink. It's a warm, friendly hotel, an easy walk from the pier and seafront. We booked room only, though breakfast looked and smelled great. Thanks for the hospitality, highly recommended.
