The toilet in our bathroom was awkwardly placed and a little difficult to get to, but that was the only small issue. Our room was spacious, comfortable and tidy, and the pool and spa areas were clean and well organised. Breakfast and dinner used high quality ingredients. The staff were accommodating and the service was outstanding. At the Rabbit, they even wrote a birthday message on my girlfriend’s dessert, a really nice touch. All in all, I had a very positive experience.

Marine Troon has a lovely location, a pleasant bar and restaurant, and welcoming, helpful staff. Breakfast and dinner were nice. The dinner menu was quite limited, though. What we ordered was lovely, but we ate elsewhere on our second night for more choice. Our third-floor room was small but nicely appointed. If you want views of the golf course and coast, I’d suggest booking a sea-view room on the second floor. It costs more, but is probably worth it.

The food was fantastic at our Sunday lunch for 12 adults and one toddler. We were allowed to choose from any menu since we didn’t want a full Sunday lunch. The staff were polite and helped with all our requests.

The setting overlooking Troon Golf Course is magnificent, and there’s a lovely bar with a wide choice of drinks. Dinner at the Rabbit Restaurant is well worth booking. The gym, pool, steam room and sauna are excellent. Be careful when booking a room that doesn’t face the sea.

We all loved our afternoon tea for three, especially our 11-year-old daughter, who thought it was very fancy. The venue was lovely, the tea was really filling, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. We’d definitely come back.
