Badgers Retreat Holiday Park

There’s a lovely dog walking spot at the top of the hill, and the site itself is great and peaceful. The supermarket is about a 5-10 minute drive away. It’s a shame that one staff member is so unhelpful and gets into arguments with other lodge owners. A few different owners have had trouble with the same person.

The lodge was perfect and we couldn’t fault it at all. We had a great holiday, even if the weather could’ve been better.

Hidden gem was a lovely site, and the lodge was beautiful. It had more storage than any lodge we’ve stayed in. You do need a car, but there are plenty of places to go. Darlington was a really nice surprise, and we had a great time at hopetown.

Absolutely awful 😔 Booking.com contacted me to say the owner had reported that we left the place dirty. That’s hard to believe, since we always bring our Dyson v15 and a portable spot washer on UK holidays. We clean up after ourselves, and after lots of trips this is the first and only place to make a claim like that. Two rooms were blocked off, too, and the report wasn’t made until four days after we left. I’m appealing through booking.com and have contacted both them and my bank. I’ll post time-stamped proof of my vacuum cleaner being taken and put on my Facebook page, so people can see what GARY has claimed. They’ll also be able to see how dirty it was when we arrived. There are notices on the walls asking guests not to leave the lights or heating on, so I think the owner is trying to get money from us. Good luck with that. I’m contacting other third-party companies to alert them, because this may be happening to other people too. I’d avoid this place altogether. It feels like a scam to get money from guests.
