Acheninver Hostel

The views were beautiful and the place was so quiet. Our cabin was small but had everything we needed, and it was clean and really warm. You walk about 300m from the car park along a gravel track to reach the hostel, which was no problem for us. It’s a great base for climbing Suilven, about an hour’s drive away.

The cliffs and moving ocean make a beautiful view, and you can get down to a wild beach along the way. The little house has everything you need, even heated floors. It’s a lovely spot to stop, though the walk from the car park means heavy suitcases could be a pain. There are wheelbarrows there for your bags, and we actually found using them a bit of extra fun.

The pods look out over the Loch, with a stunning view just a short walk from the car park. There’s even the option of a fire pit. It’s a lovely place to stay at the end of a long dead-end road. If you’re coming off the NC500 route, buy food before you turn off, since the one shop we passed was closed.

The view makes the walk worthwhile. The hostel is very clean, with a handy little kitchen and a common area. It’s a bit out of the way, and the 300m route from the car park crosses uneven ground. I wish I’d stayed longer to see more of the area.
