It's sad to see the Redbeck Motel go. It's a Wakefield institution that so many people loved and remember fondly. Two things always stick with me: cappuccinos that tasted like Thorntons cappuccino chocolates and were just the pick-me-up you needed when feeling delicate, and the front doors having no lock because the place was always open and didn't need one. The memories will stay.

Breakfast was fine, and most of the staff are lovely each time we come in, which is nearly every week. The coffee was another story. A young girl who served it, possibly called ‘Alice?’, was rude and seemed unsure what she was doing. She makes it far too hot every time, steaming an instant coffee for over 30 seconds. After my meal I politely asked for a remake because the cup was too hot to touch. She rolled her eyes and sighed, poured half away, then topped it up with cold milk. It was just milky water. Other people were openly saying the cups were too hot to drink as well. She should be glad I didn't throw it over her :) xoxo

The breakfast is bang on, but leave yourself a couple of hours for the ‘coffee’ to cool. We overheard the waitress may have been called Alice. Please take her off coffee duty or at least train her, because customers are being handed cups of liquid lava before they leave with third-degree burns and you get a lawsuit :)

I ordered a sandwich and got sausage with tomato instead. The bread cake was tiny, with two small sausages cut in half and a spoonful of cheap tinned tomatoes. It probably cost 70-80p to make, yet they charged £5.50. Disgusting. I'll never go back, and I'm glad it's closing.

Great place. I know you'll regret closing down. The only way to make money is through the place. Think hard, don't build. God works in mysterious ways 🙏🙋♂️🙋♂️🙋♂️
