The room was delightful, and the staff we met were generally spot on. The bar pizza later was really nice, though it took ages to arrive. We assume everyone else, like us, had left the marquee meal uneaten. That meal was a disaster. We booked as part of a package and didn't expect much, but it was the worst food I've ever had. We had to stand in the rain to get into the marquee, and the whole service was chaotic despite plenty of staff and pre orders with appalling choices. We were ignored for both courses. When we went looking for our mains, there were no roast potatoes left, and the pasta came cold in a plastic bowl. I have never seen such a bad attempt at pasta. We ate nothing and waited in the bar for the 19:30 bar food service, ready to pay outside the package. Breakfast was another mess. I can't comment on the food because the queue was so disordered, with one tiny serving area and so many people, that we gave up. We would have missed our coach, and it seemed clear there'd be nothing left. We're off to the Polar express now, but would never book this through Caldonian or recommend it. We've travelled all over the world and the UK as a family, and I can't stress how bad the marquee food and service were. I wish I'd taken photos, but we didn't touch it. It's so badly organised that you have to wonder if it's a purposeful way to save on food costs and maximise profit, because hospitality professionals can't think that setup is sufficient.

We were very happy with how tidy and spacious the room was, though a few areas could use a refresh. We booked at the last minute, found the hotel easily, and it looked really pretty outside. We were greeted quickly when we arrived. The lift wasn't working, so with the pram we had to go outside and around the building to reach our room. The children's area was cute and nicely decorated, with a little chalk board and bean bag. There were TVs at the end of both beds, although only one remote worked and we made do. The hotel was extremely noisy that night. We got back around 8 and started settling the youngest children, but kids ran and shouted in the hallway until 11. Our baby was still awake close to midnight, which ruined the night for me. I understand the hotel didn't create the noise. We'd booked breakfast. The food arrived quickly and was good for the price, but the crumpets and all the pastries had already gone. The children's games room is a fab idea, though it costs extra.

The Wizard suite felt very new and clean, and it really delivered on what my kids hoped for from a magical stay. I'd give it 10/10 and recommend it. The suite is newer and cheaper than the CBeebies hotel.

I was travelling alone for work, so arriving to chaos on Saturday 1st November was a bit of a nightmare. The hotel is inside a theme park, and there was a fireworks display on the grounds. Parking near the hotel was impossible, with shrieking kids and loud music everywhere. Thankfully, it had all quietened down by about 9pm 😂 The staff were pleasant despite being busy, and the room was generally fine, spacious but a little dated. The location only clicked when the hotel emailed a couple of days before check in to suggest upgrading to a themed room. As a single guest, I found that strange and vaguely wondered what kind of hotel I'd booked. My main criticisms were the filthy carpets in the shared areas, especially on the stairs, and the off putting warnings about bodily fluids among the first things you see in the room. Do they really need to put that there, and does it make any difference?

The hotel is hard to find at night. When I arrived at 5.30pm in November, it was raining and visibility was poor, but there was no sign at the start of the road to Gullivers World showing where the HOTEL was. Hopefully signage is included in the development budget, as it looks like there's a lot of work going on. I hadn't chosen the Enchanted Palace, just booked a room online and was allocated it. It turned out to be a lovely surprise: it looks and smells new, with really comfy beds, stunning wizard-themed decor and ornaments, and a shower to die for. I was travelling alone on business, but it'd be lovely for a visit with young children.
