We stayed for one night while in town for comedy at the castle. The castle is an easy 10-minute walk away, and although we’d parked at Sainsbury's using JustPark, we were offered a spot in the car park. The room was just right and well furnished, with a fridge. The owner and staff were friendly and helpful, and there was a good range of beers and other drinks at reasonable prices. Breakfast was included and nice. I’d definitely stay again.

Whenever I’m in town for work, this is my go-to. The rooms are simple and nice, and the staff are super friendly and welcoming. It’s a beautiful historic pub with great beer, and the attached Latin American restaurant is brilliant. I’ve tried some of the menu and the food is amazing: the tapas is spot on and the burgers are huge. They also pour the best Guinness in the area, complete with a clover, which you hardly ever see these days. I’ve never made it in time for breakfast, but it smells amazing and I’ve heard good things, so I can only imagine it’s as good as the evening food.

We stayed a couple of nights and would highly recommend this inn if you’re not after smart boutique or cheap chain accommodation. The building is very old, with steep stairs and a few odd angles, but the rooms are warm, spotless, nicely presented, and clearly well maintained. It’s a traditional old inn with a twist. The bar is busy and popular with locals, while the separate dining room serves South American food and has matching decor. The menu is interesting, and everything is freshly prepared. They don’t skimp on garlic, and the steaks were particularly good. The friendly, responsive landlord, landlady, and team were happy to help with variations, and nothing seemed too much trouble. Breakfast was freshly cooked with good quality ingredients. Drinks, toast, fruit, yoghurt, and cereal are self-serve.

A lovely little pub and hotel, with a really nice Latin American and Spanish restaurant. Very happy to recommend it.

The meal was really lovely. Everything tasted fresh and full of flavour, and the care in the food came through. The staff were friendly without fuss, and the place had a relaxed, welcoming feel. I’d definitely come back.
